Q&A with Independence defensive back Brayden Needham

How did the high school football season go overall?
“Every team’s goal is to win a State Championship. So, in my opinion, it wasn’t a successful season unless you went out and achieved that. There were some moments, and some games, where we were successful. But overall, going 5-6, ending up 3rd in the region, and losing in the first round of the playoffs isn’t successful.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“As of right now, we are wrapping up our winter lifts and are beginning our combine. So, combine this week, and then we move into a month of spring practice, our Navy v. Gold Spring Game on May 12th, and we wrap it up with a scrimmage at Stewart’s Creek on May 19th.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I feel very confident about our team going into this season. We return a lot of players to the defensive side of the ball. Offensively we will look a little different, with an almost brand-new offensive line, a new quarterback, and a few returning offensive starters, with some spots where some young guys can step up and compete for a job. I’m very excited for spring ball, and to move into the summer getting ready for the season.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Looking at our schedule it’s pretty obvious to see who our toughest competition will be. Starting off the season, going to Murfreesboro to play multiple time State Champion Oakland. We are excited to be presented with the challenge at hand in playing them, and to be able to showcase our brand of Indy football.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Playing in 6A, and on top of that, playing in WCS, you see guys that are going to play big time football in college week in and week out. So, it’s difficult to narrow down a singular guy that will be the toughest to stop. Guys like Carter Pace, Ronan O’Connell, Tanner Lee, Clayton Merrill, and Stephen Ellison are going to all be great players we will play against.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I’d like the opportunity to be able to play college football. God willing the right coaches find me and give me the opportunity to play for their program.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“There’s not much activity in my recruitment right now. I’m more focused on the improvement of myself and my team right now, and the preparation for the upcoming season. Hoping my film this year will speak for itself and get my name out there more.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“None as of right now.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have not made any college trips yet. I’ve been invited to a few camps, so I might get to a few schools for those.”

Do you have plans for any trips soon?
“As of right now, no.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“The Tennessee Vols have been my favorite school since I was a baby coming home from the hospital in the checkerboard shirt.”

Q&A with Lewis County offensive center Cole Farr

How did the high school football season go overall?
“This football season was great, we went 11-2, region champions, and a third-round playoff spot.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Currently I am part of the baseball team in Lewis County but as soon as the baseball season is done, I will start attending workouts for football.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I think this could be one of the best teams in a long time for Lewis County. We are in a new region so only time can tell.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“With the new region layout, I’d say Waverly will probably be our toughest competition.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“With this region, no one is really noticeable and comes to mind right off the back.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“This question is hard currently because I haven’t decided if I want to play in the next level or not.”

“This football season was great, we went 11-2, region champions, and a third-round playoff spot.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?

......................................................................................................
