What are the keys for your team being successful going forward?
“To just play our game. Give everything you got and know your brother is going to do the same. Be the best at the basics.”

Q&A with Daniel Boone quarterback Luke Jenkins

How has everything with the football season been going so far?
“We are 7-0 which is best in school history, but I feel like we still have some things to iron out and I know we will have a tough playoff schedule ahead. We realized last year having such a young team that this year could be our year with so many returning starters and we have a goal to go 10-0 on the season and go as far as we could in the playoffs.”

Have you been pleased with how you have played this season?
“I feel like there were definitely some situations where I could have done better, but I’m pretty pleased so far. The last game against Science Hill I had some 3rd and 4th down conversion passes that kept drives going and we were able to score which made a difference in the game. My completion rate is only about 62%, which I’d like to improve. My team is more of a run offense so I know when I do get a pass play I need to make it count.”

How do you feel your team has played?
“Defense has been great. Special teams have been amazing. Everyone is playing their role and we’re really playing unselfish football. We just want to win. We don’t care who scores or how- just get points on the board and go home with a team victory.”

What do you feel your team can improve on?
“There’s always room for improvement everywhere, but I think the offense needs to clean some things up, I need to continue to get better with my reads on the RPO. Our line has been better the last couple of games cutting down on the false starts and holds so that’s good.”

What are the keys for your team being successful going forward?
“We don’t need to be over confident because we are undefeated. We need to continue to stay focused and play hard and take one game at a time.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes, I’d love to play football in college. For a long time I thought it would be basketball but the last couple of years I’ve decided football is what I want to play at the next level.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I’ve spoken to a few coaches, but none have offered anything yet. As a junior I just want to get better and keep my options open.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“No offers yet.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have not made any college trips yet.”

Do you have plans for game day trips?
“Not really.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Yes, Ohio State. Go Bucks! Kind of hard being surrounded by orange here in TN, but my mom is from Ohio so it’s been pretty natural to root for them with lots of family still up there.”

Q&A with Bearden quarterback Drew Parrott

How has everything with the football season been going so far?
“We’re off to a pretty good start as a team. We have improved every week and hard work and practice shows that.”

Have you been pleased with how you have played this season?
“For the most part, yes. There are many things I would love to have back but learning from my mistakes has created growth and improvement.”

How do you feel your team has played?
“I feel like we’ve had some pretty great moments. There are a few moments we’d like to have back as a team but overall we have played well as a group.”

What do you feel your team can improve on?
“To play well as a team we should all have to improve individually. We should focus on the importance of our jobs and how we can all improve as leaders.”

What are the keys for your team being successful going forward?
“We have to stay healthy, keep a positive mindset, and improve with every week going forward.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“It’s always been a dream of mine to play at the collegiate level. Being a 3-sport high school athlete, we will just have to see how it will play out.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I have been contacted by a few schools gauging my interest in playing football. Being in the middle of my sophomore season, I’m not sure of what my recruitment will look like. My goal is to keep improving as a player. Over the next year my recruitment picture will become clearer.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“I wouldn’t say that a school is in the forefront right now.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“No, I will not be doing that till hopefully over the summer or in the fall of my junior season.”

Do you have plans for game day trips?
“Not at the moment.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I’m a Tennessee fan and I love the Vols, but I attend Ohio State games every year because my grandfather played there for Woody Hayes and won a national championship in 1961.”

Q&A with Walker Valley quarterback Evan Schwarzl

How has everything with the football season been going so far?

“We’ve had some tough losses but we’re 2-0 in the region so that’s all that really matters and we’ve set ourselves up to win our region, which is right where we want to be.”

How do you feel your team has played?
“We’ve played hard in every game we’ve been a part of. We’ve gotten a lot closer as a team as the season has moved on, and we’re a super coachable group.”

What do you feel your team can improve on?
“I feel like we can grow in execution. Our coaches make a great game plan every week for us to succeed and when we execute is when we are at our best.”

What are the keys for your team being successful going forward?
“Execution.”
